The AI era has arrived and is unstoppable.
In 2023, it was unforeseen that large model-based AI technology would be a key driver of the tech industry's continued forward momentum. Who is closest to the power in this "AI renaissance" trend? And who holds the key to shaping this emerging tech force?
Recently, Time magazine gave a list of the 100 most critical people in AI.
The list is organized into four main categories - Leaders, Innovators, Shapers and Thinkers - with 25 people in each category.
Among them, entrepreneurs such as CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, and Baidu founder and CEO Robin Li, as well as Elon Musk, were recognized as leaders; and the list of innovators featured authors and artists such as Chinese-born sci-fi writer Ted Kang and Black Mirror screenwriter Charlie Brooker, who, along with Character.AI founder were jointly selected.
AI organizations in various countries around the world, as well as officials involved in formulating AI policies, make up the "shapers" of AI; the team of AI scholars led by Feifei Li, Geoffrey Hinton, and Yann LeCun has become the "thinkers" of the AI industry " lineup. Interestingly, their views on generalized AI vary, with some believing that it is still too early, and others believing that AI may eventually have the ability to destroy humanity.
These 100 individuals, perhaps, depict the power landscape of AI development.
