AI Text Detection Tool Discarded by OpenAI for Accuracy of 26%
OpenAIAs the creator of ChatGPT and a giant in the AI field, not all products are as successful as ChatGPT. Recently, OpenAI announced that it would shut down its AI text detection tool "AI Classifier".
The reason for this is that the tool has serious accuracy issues. The tool was only able to identify AI-generated content for 26% and incorrectly labeled human-written text for 9% as AI-generated. In response, OpenAI said it is working on integrating feedback, researching more effective text provenance techniques, and promising to develop and deploy mechanisms to enable users to know if audio or visual content is AI-generated.
It is worth noting that OpenAI did not specifically announce the closure of the AI Classifier, but rather modified the original announcement, showing a low-key attitude.
