The continuous development of artificial intelligence technology, so that some scammers began to use the "face" type of fraud, this kind of fraud is not only worrying, but also very easy to make people feel anxious. So, could someone be cheated by their own friends and relatives? This requires our attention and vigilance.

A recent case of fraud using AI technology involved a company's legal representative being swindled out of $4.3 million by scammers. The scammers allegedly usedAI face swapand onomatopoeic techniques to commit fraud by pretending to be an acquaintance.

Some media outlets have reportedly called for people to be wary of the "AI scam wave", as there have been many similar cases, such as the one in which Xiao Liu of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, was swindled out of 6,000 yuan by a scammer posing as a classmate.

"So, is the 'wave of AI scams' really upon us?" That's the question some are asking.

The development of AI technology has caused some people to start using it to commit various criminal acts, such as cyber fraud, disinformation and so on. These behaviors may lead to damage to people's property or even threaten their lives. Therefore, we should strengthen the regulation and control of AI technology to ensure its legal and compliant application and prevent it from being used for immoral purposes.

A police officer included in the Ministry of Public Security's expert pool told reporters: to successfully implement this type of fraud, you need to obtain the personal information of the person who was replaced with a face, multiple face photos and voice material, and use artificial intelligence technology to produce realistic audio and video; you also need to steal the microblogging account of the person who was replaced with a face; in order to successfully implement the fraud, it is necessary to fully understand the target person and his or her social relationship with the person who was replaced with a face. Therefore, the comprehensive cost of this fraud is quite high.

The MIIT said it will take measures to strengthen the regulation and control of AI technology to ensure its legal and compliant application. It will also encourage technological research, improve the technical prevention capability of deep synthesis risks, strengthen industry self-discipline, establish relevant standards and norms, and promote the healthy development of AI technology.
