Google Announces Global Open Access to the Gemma Big Model

Google says that Gemma uses the same research and technology as the Gemini model, developed by the Google DeepMind and other teams at Google developed it, built for responsible AI development. Google claims that the Gemma model outperforms open-source models with larger parameters, such as Meta Llama-2, in 11 out of 18 key benchmarks for language comprehension, reasoning, math, and more. And Gemma "can run directly on a developer's laptop or desktop computer". In terms of average scores, Gemma -7B's benchmark average score is as high as 56.4, far exceeding Llama-13B (52.2) and Mistral-7B (54.0), making it the world's most powerful open-source model at present.
