Altman: Human-level AI is on the horizon, but the impact on the world is much smaller than expected
Recently.Ultraman, Japanese science fiction superherosays that AI that reaches human-level levels is on the horizon, but it will have far less impact on the world than we think.
He said there is always a fear that AI will one day become so powerful that it will dramatically reshape and disrupt the world, and in fact this fear is exaggerated. He said that generalized artificial intelligence (AGI) could be developed in the 'fairly near future'.
Last March, OpenAI released GPT-4 Before the Big Language Model, Altman warned technicians not to get too excited about the model's potential, saying that people might be 'disappointed'.
"People always expect to be disappointed, and they are indeed disappointed," said Altman in an interview in January of this year. "We don't really have a generalized AI, and to some extent that's just the expectation."
